Award winning koolaman designs pop-up-shop at Mildura Field Days

Koolaman designs were out and about again over the weekend in Sydney and in Mildura exhibiting for the first time at the Mildura Field Days.  We were thrilled to be invited to the new look Mildura Field Days to be part of the Ladies Day Marquee.  This was the first time a Ladies Day Marquee had been organised.  It was certainly a great atmosphere to share with other inspiring local Mildura business women.  It was also a great opportunity for our team to display our jewellery locally.  We often get comments from locals that they don't get to see our pieces enough so when an opportunity presents to set up a pop-up-shop we always love to be a part of it.

The Mildura Field Days was a well organised event and we had a steady stream of people visit us on Friday and Saturday. It was great to see some returning customers and as always lovely to meet some new faces.  It is always very humbling and satisfying to receive positive feedback from people we meet who have not had the opportunity to share the koolaman designs experience.

Adding to the excitement of exhibiting at the Mildura Field Days was winning an award for Best Small Site.  It was such an honour to be chosen as an award winner given it was our first time at the Field Days.   For our efforts I was treated to a lovely meal with event organisers, received a beautiful hamper of goodies, some chocolate which is never wasted and plaque to commemorate the occasion.

The 2013 pop-up-shop tour continues in the coming weekends.  You can find us this weekend, Sunday 2nd June at The Design Exchange in Lydiard Street Ballarat.  At FarmFest in Toowoomba on June 4, 5 & 6 and at the Square Market in Bendigo on Saturday 8th June.  If you are heading to any of these events be sure to pop by, say hello and enter our monthly promotion to win a Liesel Bangle.  You need to be in it to win it!

March pop-up-shop tour continues & Giveaways Galore

Lisa and her team will be appearing at the Adelaide Pregnancy Babies and Children's Expo this weekend.  The Expo commences Friday 22 and is open Saturday 23 and Sunday 24, March 2013.  Doors open from 10:00am - 4:00pm Friday and 10:00am - 5:00pm Saturday and Sunday.  Doors close at 4pm Sunday for visitors. Don't pay for entry there are tickets available from the Pregnancy Babies and Children's.

Valentine's Day with koolaman designs

I’m of the opinion you either love or hate Valentine’s Day and I think I’m the latter.  I'm certainly a fan of romance and nice gestures, but really I don’t know about all  of the commercial and gimmicky heart shaped bits and pieces.  I like the sound of Saint Valentine, he seemed like a very likable genuine character, according to Wikipedia anyway.  If you can trust Wikipedia it explains that “The most popular martyrology associated with Saint Valentine was that he was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians, who were persecuted under the Roman Empire; during his imprisonment, he is said to have healed the daughter of his jailer Asterius. Legend states that before his execution he wrote "from your Valentine" as a farewell to her”.  Sounds to me like a very kind hearted bloke and I can appreciate the need to celebrate his efforts.  But when you look at what it has transpired into today, I’m just not convinced.

Maybe I’m just a bit jaded because I have never really been spoilt and romantically doted on by my Valentine, on February 14^th , any year.  One year I hit the jackpot with a fishing rod which was very practical, I admit,  but not convinced it counts as romantic though.  Anyway, I have to acknowledge, he’d be dammed if he did and dammed if he didn’t.  If I received some sort of frilly lacy red love heart matching set of lingerie, I think I’d cringe.  I would probably be more red with embarrassment, than my new ensemble itself, at thought of him going to a shop and asking for assistance to buy me this type of gift.  I can picture an over enthusiastic shop assistant trying really hard to paint a picture of me, in order to choose the right outfit, by bombarding him with questions about my favourite colour, style, padding, lace, skimpiness etc etc.  My Valentine would be stumbling his way through and eventually come up with an answer about me which I would not even know.  I can only imagine too, just how hideously itchy some of those lacy pieces must be anyway, hence my distinct lack of colour and briefness in my boring black and white underwear selection.

If he doesn’t get me a gift, I’d probably casually mention in a conversation that one of my friends had received a Valentine’s Day gift.  I’d then wait for the reply, which is true to an extent and a thought echoed by me in the first place “but you told me you don’t believe in these type of things anyway”.  It's complicated isn't it!.  But nice words and to be appreciated is all I need.  

But it leads me to thinking, surely I’m not the only one who could be so complicated,  am I?  There must be hundreds of you out there who have been excited about a pending romantic Valentine’s Day only to stumble at the final hurdle.  I’m not suggesting for a minute that any of us are ungrateful and it is the thought that counts, but everybody must have a romantic experience that is tinged with such badness it is actually hilarious.  Think of romantic experiences that you can look back on now, which still gives you a shiver, but you are thankful it did go bad and you didn’t end up dating that person again.  Perhaps you realised at that moment if this is the worst it can be, it can only get better from here­­­­­ so you persevered and ending up marrying that person.

For those who missed the entry, here it is - A few years back, my mum broke a fingernail just before Christmas, so she decided to stick on a fake nail. When I saw your new “hide” collection
Upon opening my email last Friday,
I got so excited and thought to myself

Adelaide Pregnancy Babies & Children's Expo

We're packing up the car and on our way to the Adelaide Pregnancy Babies & Children's expo this weekend with giveaways in tow!  It's our first exhibition in South Australia for 2012 and we're looking forward to a great few days. The expo is held Fri 16th, Sat 17th and Sun 18th March. Doors open at 10am each day, last entry 3pm Friday and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.  We have FREE Tickets to the PBC expo available to download from our online store.

This weekend we're also going to give a free pair of sterling silver ELLA earrings with every order placed at the expo. This offer is only available to orders placed at the Adelaide expo and not online, one set of earrings per customer. Don't worry for all of those people who aren't able to make it to Adelaide this weekend, we'll be having some other giveaways soon.

Christmas is just around the corner!

Have you started Christmas shopping yet? If you're thinking of shopping at koolaman designs for Christmas our advice is to get in now. To ensure you receive your Christmas koolaman designs in time, we ask that you place your orders by midnight 8th December in WA, QLD, NT, New Zealand and  midnight 12th December in VIC, SA, NSW, TAS and ACT. This will give us enough time to create your koolaman personalised jewellery sterling silver and  9ct gold personalised pieces and pop them into the post.

Orders placed after this date, may not reach their recipient in time for Christmas.

Koolaman gift certificates can be purchased up until 3pm on Christmas Eve, we'll email you a copy for you to print off and pop in a card.
